U.S. Patent PP23,583
Description: The newest rootstock released for grower trial is an interspecific peach-plum hybrid named ‘MP-29’. ‘MP-29’ expresses resistance to Armillaria root rot and has as good resistance to peach tree short life (PTSL) as Guardian™ rootstock. Peach scions that have been budded to ‘MP-29’ have displayed similar trunk cross-sectional areas as ‘Sharpe’ (unpatented) rootstock with higher yields of larger fruit, which increases yield efficiency. ‘MP-29’ has red leaves similar to ‘Flordaguard’ (unpatented). It does not produce any fruit and is useful only as a rootstock.
License Availability: FFSP has non-exclusively licensed the following entities for the propagation of the ‘MP-29’ peach rootstock:
Cumberland Valley Nurseries, Inc.
Freedom Tree Farms, LLC
Phillip Rucks Citrus Nursery, Inc.
