‘FL0567’

U.S. PVP Pending
Oat Cultivar

‘FL0567’ is a new winter oat variety that was co-developed by the University of Florida and the Louisiana State University Agricultural Center (LSUAC) under the Sungrains collaborative breeding agreement.  ‘FL0567’ has considerable potential for forage, grain, conservation tillage, and for wildlife purposes in the Southern United States.

‘FL0567’ exhibits early season vigorous growth and high tillering capacity, which makes it a good forage-type oat.  ‘FL0567’ has performed very well in both grain and forage trials and has exhibited very early maturity, good grain yield, and high test weight.

A new, virulent strain of crown rust was discovered in 2013 in fields where ‘FL0567’ was tested; ‘FL0567’ exhibited high levels of resistance to this new strain of crown rust.
