Sparkles™ ‘695-1’ – (US Patent No. PP9,050)
Dieffenbachia Cultivar

Sparkles™ ‘695-1’ is distinguished by its bright foliar variegation pattern that is highlighted by white midribs and petioles, compact growth habit, and production of numerous basal shoots. Experimental tests reveal that plants of this cultivar are tolerant to a range of fertilizer levels. All plants in the growth tests performed well and received an excellent visual evaluation.

Sparkles™ ‘695-1’ is intended for commercial foliage producers growing finished Dieffenbachia in 15 cm pots. Its freely branching and compact growth habit may also make it suitable for production in 10 cm pots.

Star Bright™ ‘68814’ - (US Patent No. PP9,051)
Dieffenbachia Cultivar

Dominant features of Star Bright™ ‘68814’ include its narrow leaves, which are half the width of most Dieffenbachia leaves, and the arching manner in which the leaves are held. Another distinguishing feature is its bright, foliar variegation pattern that is highlighted by whitish petioles. According to an experiment in which liners of Star Bright™ ‘68814’ were grown in 1.6 L pots, this cultivar is capable of tolerating a range of fertilization. Averaging between 3.5 to 4 basal shoots per plant, this cultivar is considered a moderate

basal producer. All foliage produced in the experiment was healthy in appearance, with no signs of tip burn or any other abnormalities in any treatment. Star Bright™ ‘68814’ is intended for commercial foliage producers growing finished Dieffenbachia in 1.6 to 8.0 L (15 to 25 cm) pots. Its long, narrow, arching leaves may make it more suitable for the larger pot sizes. Tests also indicated this plant performs well in interior conditions.

'Sterling' - (US Patent No. PP14,762)
Dieffenbachia Cultivar

‘Sterling’ exhibits dark green leaves which are further accented by a bright white midrib. While newly opened leaves of this cultivar are somewhat lighter green than older leaves, they darken to the
normal color within a few days. The leaf length of ‘Sterling’ averages 2.3 times the width and may reach a length of 36 cm and a width of 15.5 cm when mature. Experimental tests on liners that were potted into 1.6 L containers revealed that plants of ‘Sterling’ reach marketable size in 5 months. In mature plants, the canopy width averaged about 1.4 times the canopy height and leaves were more than twice as long as they were wide. Tests also revealed that plants averaged at least 6 basal shoots, eliminating the need for multiple plants per pot to achieve a full look. Dieffenbachia ‘Sterling’ is intended for commercial producers growing finished plants in 1.6L or 3.9 L containers.
